About le tattva

Le Tattva is a home décor brand bringing to market a curated selection of ethically sourced, handmade artisanal goods from around the world. We are dedicated to our mission of uplifting artisans worldwide by cultivating long-lasting relationships that bring their beautiful, handmade products to market through fairly traded channels.

Our name comes from the ancient Sanskrit word tattva, meaning reality or truth. We believe in honest relationships and building a business based on transparency with both our artisan partners and customers.

our story

From the beginning

Le Tattva was born in a Parisian apartment, but its roots are embedded in the century old culture and techniques of talented artisans of the Indian sub-continent.

Growing up, co-Founder Neha Maheshwari developed a deep respect and interest in the colors, cultures, and crafts from her native India, one of the most culturally rich countries in the world. When her life brought her to France six years ago, she witnessed the French appreciation for savoir faire and the respect for the artisan and their skill, which unfortunately went missing in her own country. While still a budding dream, met French native Priscille Bilbaut, who not only shared her respect and appreciation of the Indian craft and culture, but was equally excited to bring beautiful artisanal Indian products to the shores of France. Combining their love of craft, their intimate knowledge of French and Indian design, and desire to do business differently, Le Tattva was born.

TAKING THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED

Le Tattva was created with the fundamental belief that every person has a right to safe working conditions and fair, living wages. We ethically source all our products from artisan groups and organizations that operate under fair trade principles and employ high standards of employment safety measures. These organizations work to improve the quality of life in their communities and help create sustainable models and financial independence for the artisans they employ. Furthermore, we buy all our products outright from our partners, taking on all the risk so the artisans can be assured of financial security and compensation for their beautiful work.
